Obituary

Our Beautiful Mother, Annie Sue Patton Croteau departed this earthly life to be joined in heaven with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 4, 2016, at the age of 89. Annie Sue was one of eight children born to John Irving Patton and Annie Bell Baker Patton in Birmingham, Alabama. We are comforted that her body is no longer in the pain she suffered for the last five years. Hospice Chaplain was with her and she passed calmly, which gave me peace in my heart. Mother was of the Baptist Faith. She was kind, thoughtful, a loving Mother, never forgot a person or their name and loved to talk just about anything. We refer to her as the "Queen" of the nursing home. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Annie Bell Patton; husband, Jim Croteau; sisters, Neva, Alice and Juanita; brothers, Burnett, Howard, Paul and her twin, Johnny. She is survived by her daughter, Donnis Lorraine Walters Kalb (Chuck) of Alabaster, Alabama; son, Burnett Cooper Smith of Tampa, Florida; her only grandchild, Michelle Denise Walters Paradiso (Michael) of Birmingham, Alabama; great-granddaughters, Tara Elizabeth Paradiso of San Diego, California and Peyton Alexandria Paradiso of Columbia, South Carolina; many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Dianne Davis (Alan) who shared her birthday of Ormond Beach, Florida. God gave us a wonderful visit in August with Mother and we were so happy to have this time together. Mother was a resident of Palm Garden of Tampa for seven years. We send our heartfelt gratitude for the love and care they gave her. The staff of nurses, doctors, aides, care manager, office staff, and many others who touched her life touched ours. LifePath Hospice for the compassion, dignity shown our Mother for the last ten months of her life, We will be forever grateful. Life was not always easy for our Mother, but we knew at the end of the day she had done her best and loved us both with all her heart. It was a job well done Mother. Rest peacefully in the arms of our heavenly Father.
