Anthony Panek, Sr., 92 of Tampa, FL, went to our Lord, September 8, 2011. Born in Wallington, NJ July 4, 1919. He served with the US Army and US Marines during WWII. Tony loved God and his family as much as he did his country. He lived in Tampa since 1948 and a longtime parishioner at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church where he sang in the choir over 30 years. Tony often said "singing is praying twice". Tony retired from United States Postal Service after 30 years. Survived by Stella, his loving wife of 65 yrs; their 3 children, Anthony Jr. and wife Lynda, Kathryn, and Deborah; 3 grandchildren, John, Christopher and Tracey; 1 great grandchild, Jonathan and 1 of his 4 sisters, Nellie. He will be sorely missed. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 11th from 1-3 pm at MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 North Florida Ave, Tampa. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Monday, September 12th at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Full military honors will be presented at 2:30pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church or LifePath Hospice in Tampa.
