Mrs. Bernice Van Manen, 88, of Tampa, Fl passed away on May 30, 2014. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and moved here in 1969 coming from San Diego, California. She was a retired Registered Nurse, an avid bridge player and active in her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maj. Charles M. Van Manen, USMC, Retired. Bernice is survived by her daughter, Terri Flannery (Michael) of Wesley Chapel, FL; son, Max Van Manen (Jenean) of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Brendan Flannery, Kara Villarreal (David), Kevin Flannery, of Wesley Chapel, FL, Caroline Van Manen, Juliana Van Manen of Tampa, FL. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 PM at MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 N Florida Ave, Tampa with a Rosary service held at 6:30 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, June 7th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 15520 N. Blvd. Tampa FL 33613. Following the Mass, a reception will take place at Lakeshore Villas Clubhouse until 1 PM. Interment will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery where she will be buried next to her husband.
