Captain Charles Ray Redding served his country as a member of the Air Force, and worked as a tugboat captain into retirement, but above all, he served his family, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a kind loving soul who was always more concerned for the well being of others ahead of himself. One of his pastimes was feeding and helping the homeless along Hillsborough river, please consider donating to feed and provide blankets for the homeless in his honor. He is survived by his wife NellieHelen Redding, their daughter and her spouse Myra Lee and James David Calhoun, their son Charles Ray Redding Jr., their 5 grandchildren David Dwayne Calhoun, Matthew Lee Calhoun, Kimberly Kay Boucireb, Stephanie Redding, and Danielle Bird, their 8 great children Dalen Hunter Calhoun, Allen Matthius Glazier, Brittany Redding, Corey Redding, Michelle Bird, Braxton Bird, Briley Bird, and Delilah Bird, his sister Jettie Lea Lowery, his nephew and neice Debra DeWitt, and Robert Lowery, and his great nephews and niece, Jordan Lowery, Reece Lowery, and Brittni Lowery.
A memorial gathering and service for friends and family on Saturday 12/28/2019, from 1-4 PM, at shelter 115 by the water at Lowry Park. 1204 W Flora St, Tampa, FL 33604.
His remains will be placed at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Floridawith other veterans who served our country at a later date,
"ENTRUSTED TO OUR CARE"
