Carmen Contreras Bozak, 97, of Tampa, FL passed away on January 30, 2017. Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, Carmen was a veteran of WWII serving in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) and held the honor of becoming the first Hispanic female to serve overseas. She was stationed in Algiers, North Africa under the direct supervision of General Dwight Eisenhower. Carmen was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Theodore J. Bozak, and her son, Brian P. Bozak. She is survived by her sister, Ann Martinez (Walter); son, Robert Bozak (Marilynn) and daughter, Carmen Bozak; grandchildren Jennifer Fairbanks (Tim), Zachary, FL and Meagan; great-grandchildren; Jake, Derek and Nicholas Fairbanks; and son-in-law David Griffin. Carmen is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral service to be held at 12 Noon Saturday, Feb 4th at MacDonald Funeral Home,Tampa. Family will receive friends one hours to service. Full Military Honors and burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
