Obituary

Casimiro "Gus" Yanez, Jr. passed away October 17, 2012. He was a 1934 graduate of Hillsborough High School. During World War II, he joined the United States Army Cadets which later became the United States Air Force and graduated as a pilot 2nd Lt, assigned to Air Transport Command in Long Beach, California and then promoted to 1st Lt. He married Rosemary in Chicago in October of 1943, he was then sent to North Africa and flew many planes and promoted to Captain; his favorite plane was a Cargo Plane C-47. After the war, Gus went into the restaurant business and was co-owner of Peter Pan Restaurant. After his retirement, bought a motor home and traveled the states and also made several trips to Europe. Gus was a member of the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Rosemary (nee Bonhomme) Yanez; proud father of Robert, Terry and James Yanez, Sharon Bihorel (Pierre), Denise Garcia (Frank); loving grandfather of eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, with one on the way soon. A funeral service will take place at noon Saturday at the chapel of MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 North Florida Ave. Interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
