Chalama Vern Peters, "Gem", 16, passed away October 5, 2005. Gem was born in St. Lucia and came to Tampa at the tender age of 7 years. Gem was a 2005 graduate of Jefferson High School. She was employed at McDonald's and truly loved her co-workers and customers. Gem touched the lives of all who came in contact with her. Her passions were family, friends, movies, music, writing and reading. Gem was a rising star and she can never be replaced. Taken from us way too soon, Gem will always remain in our hearts. Her unique spirit will live eternally within her family and friends. Left to mourn her passing is her proud mother, Veronica Peters and companion Thaddeus. Other survivors include her father, Martin Toussaint; grandmothers, Agnes Peters and Teresa Toussaint; four siblings, Martina and Germaine Peters and Brittney and Shikell Toussaint, and many other loving family members and friends here and abroad. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the Without Walls International Church, 2511 N. Grady Avenue, Tampa. The family will visit with friends Saturday at the church from 12 Noon until service time.
