May 25, 1943 – April 8, 2024
Charles Edward Riley went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 8 th , 2024 at the age of 80. Ed bravely fought through two major heart surgeries and 5 weeks in ICU at Cleveland Clinic in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Ed passed while in the rehabilitation facility, Westside Regional Hospital of Plantation Florida.
Ed was the youngest of 10 children born to Pearl (Ann) Cook and Joseph Finley Riley. Ed graduated from Central High School of Cincinnati Ohio and continued his education at Lakeland Bible College. As a young man was known as a talented drummer who played in many jazz clubs in the greater Cincinnati area. Ed was also an auto mechanic and successful businessman, eventually owning his own Shell Station and tire center. After selling his business and moving to Tampa, Ed worked for the Tinney Cadillac dealership in Lakeland.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and 8 of his siblings. Brothers Raymond (Becky) Riley, William (Ruth) Riley, Joseph Riley, Joseph Finley (Junior) Riley Jr., Robert Joseph Riley. Sisters Peggy (Jim) Morgan, Delores (Earl) Mossor, and Joyce (Donald) Bono. Ed also leaves behind his loving sister Patricia (Marvin) Cann and many loving nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Ed was devoted Christian and self taught theologian. Ed studied and shared the good news of Christ with everyone he met. He lived a godly life and loved the Lord with his whole heart. Ed never met a stranger and was always ready to speak words of comfort and encouragement to everyone he met. The world has lost a true angel on earth.
There will be a celebration of Ed's life on Saturday, April 20 th at the Dunedin Assembly of God Church at 885 Lake Haven Road, Dunedin Florida. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm with a memorial service following. Reverend Billy Greene and Reverend LaVoy Newton officiating.
Graveside service is at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 686 Mt. Moriah Drive, Cincinnati Ohio on Wednesday, April 24th at 1pm. Reverend Rick Witt officiating.
