Obituary

Charliss Foster Daniel Jennings, age 81, left this world on Thursday, February 7, 2013 to join her beloved husband Curtis "Sam" and her beloved son Jeffery. She is survived by her daughters, Suzie Jennings and Sally Dennis along with grandchildren (Steve Woodard, Randy Anderson, Aimee Ostermiller, Rikki Dennis and April O'Patchen), seven great grandchildren and son-in-laws George Comer and Rod Dennis. In 1958 Charliss and her family moved from Valley, Alabama to settle in Tampa, Florida, where she and Sam lived for the rest of their lives. She maintained an independent lifestyle up to the very end which was very important to her. Charliss always took great pride in her work accomplishments, having been the first female right-of-way technician for Hillsborough County in their Land/Real Estate Department where she worked from 1966 to 1989.She attributed much of her work success at the County to her previous employer HerbertShoun Surveying (late 1950's to early 1960's) where she was a "Girl Friday", assisting with everything from answering phones to sometimes helping Mr. Shoun in the field with surveys. She was a never-ending source of love, encouragement and inspiration to those who loved her and will be sorely missed. The family will be having a memorial service on Saturday, 4/13/13 from 11-12:00 in the Chapel of Melech Hospice House, 11125 N. 52nd Street, Temple Terrace, Fl 33617, followed by refreshments. Hospice phone number is (813) 984-2200.
