Craig "Chappy" Steven Chapman was born 8/10/1960 in Richmond,Va. He passed away 03/08/2022 surrounded by love and made to be comfortable in his time of departure by his wife Cynthia , his daughter Ciara and his son Marshall Lee Chapman. Craig also leaves behind his grandson Josiah Chapman, who from the beginning posed as his best friend and favorite playmate. Together they enjoyed listening to loud music, attending Krav Maga classes, cooking fun recipes from scratch; such as homemade ice cream, cake and pizza!Craig also leaves 1 sister, Carolyn Swanson and 2 brothers Paul Chapman and June Bennerman behind. He also had a host of Nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Marshall and Gladys Chapman, sisters, Sharon fields, Bessie burgess, Delores keels and Barbara Lee. One brother, Keith Chapman. Craig "Chappy" Chapman began his career at the age of 17 by working at the tobacco company where he quickly moved up the ladder and went from dishwasher to chef!He attributes his skill and know how to his mentor Rich Johnson, who taught him all the duties of the kitchen as well as how to properly cut and prepare meat. A few years after moving with the Tobacco company to open up shop in Tampa, He was given the opportunity to work for Hops as their kitchen manager & later worked for Bonefish grill where he became director of research and development ! His talents put him in a position to open and develop stores all across the United States. He later went into business for himself opening up several restaurants and later buying into a franchise called "The GroutSmith" which he ran with the help of his only son Marshall. He was on his way to receiving his black belt via the local Krav Maga school in the community . We will always remember him for his amazing fine dining style parties and ability to always be a strong shoulder to lean on for his family and friends! We love you Craig and will continue to keep your memory alive!
