Deborah (Debbie) Kasdan Straight, 83, passed away from pneumonia on October 11, 2020, at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, with her daughter, son and daughter-in-law by her side.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren and sister: son and wife Carey and Darla Zegart of Tulsa, OK; daughter and husband, Mindy and Carl Turba and their children Brittany and Corey Turba of Lutz, FL; sister and husband Vicki and Allen Moskowitz of Louisville, KY. Her parents James and Sara Kasdan along with her youngest sister, Harriet Kasdan Rosenberg (10/11/73) preceded her in death.

She was blessed to have found love three times in her life with Arnold Zegart of Louisville, KY, Richard Straight(d) of Louisville, KY and Lars Hansen of Mountain Home, ID. Debbie enjoyed traveling and settled in various places throughout her years (KY, CO, AL, IN, ID, TX and FL).

Debbie was born in Louisville. She attended college at both Indiana and Purdue Universities, before graduating from University of Denver. While she began working in the field of social work, at the age of 40 she decided to pursue a career in law and attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX, while later transferring and completing her degree at University of Louisville.

Her true passion was not career, but her love of the theater. At fourteen she began acting and landed her first role as Dinah in "Philadelphia Story." She was later featured in television commercials for Spaulding Cleaners and Bob Klemenz Chrysler-Plymouth-Datson. She continued acting in local theaters throughout her life and later directed numerous plays ("Agnes of God," "Brighton Beach Memoirs" and "The Constituents'). She desired to start a reading theater and directed one such venture in "Love, Loss, and What I Wore in Boise," which was her last play. Not only did she love the theater, but she also collected art pieces from a wide variety of cultural influences.

She was also an avid reader, loved her dogs and enjoyed helping others. She spent four years advising a girl's youth group (Modern Femmes), tutored numerous students and wrote a grant proposal for a non-profit resulting in their receiving a million dollars. She touched many lives and will be missed.
