IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Devin Edward
Cote
December 11, 2001 – August 2, 2022
Devin Edward Cote, 20 of Tampa, Florida died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 2, 2022, in Ft Myers, FL. He was an Honors student who excelled in advanced mathematics and science. He discovered a love for flying while attending Jefferson High School. He nurtured this passion as an aviation student at Polk State College training to become a commercial pilot.
If there was a need, Devin quickly raised his hand. He loved to help others. Devin was a dedicated Christian and active parishioner at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church. He shared his time and talents for over 15 years with the Family Choir, Altar Server, Religious Education, Eucharist Minister, Sacristan, and as a volunteer for the Knights of Columbus years before he was old enough to join.
Devin had a natural talent for playing the trumpet. He played in competitive marching band, individual competitions and was named Drum Major at Jefferson High School for two years. Devin was one of the country's elite musicians chosen to participate in the Macy's Great American Marching Band for 3 years in a row, an honor he treasured.
Devin also loved sports. He enjoyed watching NASCAR with his dad eating Cheetos. When he attended races at Daytona, Devin passionately cheered on his favorite driver, Dale Earnhard Jr. His second love was soccer. He started in the Westchase Soccer program and quickly found he had a knack for defense. In middle school, he easily passed the test and became a referee to give back to the league he grew up in.
During his short life, Devin touched many hearts with his generous nature and quiet but witty sense of humor.
Devin is survived by his loving family. His parents Richard and Janet Cote, brother Steven Cote, and half sister Stephanie Wilson, several aunts, uncles, cousins and an abundance of extended family and friends. Devin was truly loved and will be missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 19th, at 10:30 am at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor.
