Donald G. Benoitpassed away in peace at home on January 10, 2022 at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones who will strive to honor his memory every day.
Preceded in death by his parents Theresa and Rufus Benoit. He is survived by his wife Rhonda Benoit, daughter Brittney Crespo, son-in-law Marko Crespo, grandchildren Olivia and Christian Crespo, step-son John Reina, step-daughter Susan Napoli and son-in-law Nelson Napoli, step-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Jason, Jacob, and Justin. Further survived by his mother-in-law Myrtice Tillman, brother and sister-in-law Gary and Vivian Tillman and sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Larry Quillen.
Don was born on December 13, 1953 and grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He started his career in law enforcement with the Lake Charles City Police, followed by the Cameron Sheriff's Department, where he rose to the rank of homicide detective. He then moved to Tampa, Florida in 1990, where he began his 22-yearlong career in security protection services. Don was a beloved member of Idlewild Baptist Church for many years. His passion for hunting and fishing throughout childhood followed him into adulthood. He was an avid LSU and Saints fan. He also loved cooking the best Cajun classic dishes and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren.
*In lieu of flowers Don has requested donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his name.
Funeral Service will be held January 22, 2022 at 12pm.
Visitation will be an hour before the funeral service.
