It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald (Don) Leon Walker, age 83, on March 28th, 2026, at Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, FL.
Don was born on August 26th,1942 in Columbus, Georgia. Don is survived by his dedicated wife of 59-years, Diane Walker, his two children, William Henry (Kelly) Walker and Kelly Ann (Dan) Gerner; his five grandchildren, Colton (Chelsea) Walker, Chelsea Walker, Kyler (Lexi) Walker, DJ Gerner and Matthew Gerner; his three great-grandchildren, Eli Hirano, Bryson Walker, and August Walker; by his loving companion dog, Precious, who sat by his side providing him comfort and support through the last 9 years of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Ann Walker, who resides in NY where they were raised and his many nephews, nieces and cousins.
He is preceded in passing by his mother, Dorothy Mae Cosilmon, and father, Alfred Leon Walker.
He was honored to be a veteran who served in the United States Navy. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge for decades where he volunteered as a cook and enjoyed spending time with his masonic brothers. He had an incredible passion for fishing, and enjoyed hunting, welding, and spending time outdoors in nature. He was a man of deep Christian faith who found gratification in his singing in the choir of his Baptist church. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always made it clear how much he cherished his family. He was a beloved member of the Temple Terrace community with many friends and neighbors that he loved to cook for and bring meals throughout the years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9th, 2026, at the MacDonald Funeral Home, located at 10520 North Florida Avenue in Tampa, FL, from 5:00-7:00PM.
Memorial services will be held on April 10th, 2026, at Mission Hill Church (10002 N 56th street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617), at 11:30 am
There will be a private family burial.
