Donald Philip
Werner
Apr 29, 1952 — Sep 4, 2026
Donald Philip Werner, age 74, passed away peacefully on September 4th, 2026, in Brandon, Florida. He was born on April 29, 1952, in Annapolis, Maryland to parents John Frank Joseph and Anna May Werner. Donald attended Seminole High School before transferring to vocational school to train as a mechanic. He went on to work for Pinellas County Schools until his retirement in 2011 and made his home in St. Petersburg, Florida. He never married and had no children. He was keenly interested in classic, hot rod, and rat rod cars and often attended car shows with his friends. He was proud of his ’56 Chevy 2-door sedan which was his daily vehicle and was a member of Tampa Bay Classic Car Club. His love of cars extended to building model cars, which he often took to competitions. He also enjoyed rock’n’roll and punk rock music. Donald was an animal lover, rescuing and feeding many cats over the years, which brought him much happiness. In recent years, Donald enjoyed watching classic movies or cartoons and playing bingo in the activity room.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Werner of Glen Burnie, Maryland, nephew, Frank (Ivy) Werner of Valrico, nieces, Pamela (Daniel) Mullin of Brandon, Anna Werner of Largo, Melissa Rose of Annapolis, Maryland, and Kayla (Jason) Mathers of Lakeland. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, John and Michael, and his sister Susan. A small scattering ceremony will be held on a future date with family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay or the SPCA,
