Edgar H. (Sonny) Mauldin, 89, of Plant City, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.Born August 30, 1928, in Tampa, FL; he was a Tampa native who served our country in both the Navy and Army.He is a Bronze Star Medal recipient for his acts of valor during the Korean War.He retired from GTE (now Verizon) in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his mother Joni Reams, father Edgar "Pops" A. Mauldin, and sister Noel Diaz.He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Jacquelyn Mauldin and two children, Sunny Raml of Tampa and Kerry Mauldin and wife, Melissa Mauldin of Valrico. The joy of his life were his three grandchildren Kristin Waldrop of Plant City, Ryan Mauldin of Brooklyn, NY and Kara Mauldin of Brandon. He adored his three great-grandchildren Michaela Waldrop of Plant City, Madison Waldrop of Plant City and Amari Gonzalez of NY. He was a big brother to sisters Norma Jean Wayland and Shannon Reams, and brother Chris Reams.

Sonny loved spending time with family, gardening, woodworking, and playing games – especially cards!He was a remarkable husband, father, granddad, great granddad, brother, uncle and friend!He was greatly loved and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 11:00 am. at East Thonotosassa Baptist Church, 12735 Knights Griffin Road, Thonotosassa, FL 33592. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or LifePath Hospice.
