Mr. Elmer F. Layden, Jr, 85, of St. Petersburg, Fl passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Elmer was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to Edythe and Elmer Layden of "Notre Dame Four Horsemen Fame" Elmer was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Elmer enjoyed boating, fishing, aviation and sharing his love of life with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Elmer Layden and mother Edythe D. Layden, brothers Michael and Patrick, sister Joan Jones and son Elmer F. Layden III. He is survived by his wife DeLores Layden; children Karen Westrich, Kimberly Layden, Thomas Layden; grandchildren Kendall Davis, Hunter Layden and Michael Anson and many sisters-and-brothers-in law, nieces and nephews. Elmer will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty and a wonderful sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
