VARON, Elvira A. of Tampa passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2008 surrounded by family and friends. She was born on November 12, 1933 to Benigno and Maria Alvarez and was raised in Ybor City. She graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1951 and Florida State University in 1955. She was a devout Catholic and also a dedicated school teacher in Hillsborough County for more than 40 years. Her greatest joy came from cooking for her family and friends. She is survived by her children: Michael and wife Barbara, Ron, Cathy and Bob and her precious grandchildren: Olivia, Michael and Sarah. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rose Varon and niece and nephews as well as many loving friends and of course her beloved cats: Boomer and Oh No. A memorial funeral Mass will be offered October 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Immediately following the Mass, a reception celebrating Elvira's life will take place at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Restoration and Preservation of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church or for Juvenile Diabetes.
