IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ethel Elaine
Nunley
December 18, 1940 – May 29, 2024
Ethel Elaine Nunley was born December 18, 1940, to Shirley and "Mike" Linville in Louisville, KY. Both parents have passed on. Elaine passed peacefully from this life Wednesday May 29, 2024. She had one sister, Marilyn Collings, who preceded Elaine in death in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her ex-husband Wayne in 2020, and her son Eddie in 2000.
She leaves behind two children—Melinda James of Gainesville, FL, and Jeff Nunley of Tampa, FL—five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was blessed to be a part of great and strong church of Christ families, most recently with the Temple Terrace church of Christ. She was a Christian and walked faithfully with God for over 65 years.
Her life had challenges and trials. Losing several family members before their time left an empty space in her heart. In her later years her body wore out. But through all of these experiences she had a great attitude, a gracious smile, and kindness that we all adored. Friends rallied to support her through visits, phone calls, and cards. These acts of kindness were always appreciated.
But looking back, her life was "well-lived." It was full of love, faith, family, and friendships. She lived a modest life by American standards, but was richly blessed by a continuing hope in a reward in Heaven after her life on Earth was complete. Her home was always open for hospitality. She was a gracious hostess and fed many friends and strangers alike. She performed many acts of service for everyone who came into her circle of influence. She fiercely loved her Lord and her family, many times neglecting her own needs to see to those she felt she could help.
The family has decided to do a small family get-together in lieu of a public funeral service. If you are inspired to leave a monetary gift, feel free to donate in her memory to the Adopt-a-Student program at Florida College, 119 N. Glen Arven Avenue, Temple Terrace, Florida, 33617. She always appreciated how this program helped students who wished to attend this private school but may not have had the finances.
Her physical body will be cremated, but her spirit will live eternally.
