Francis Frederick "Burt" Burton, the respected Educator, U.S. Customs Officer, Husband and Father passed away on April 2, 2013 at 87 years of age at the LifePath Hospice in Sun City Center, FL from dementia. "Burt" or "Frank" as he was called by friends; was born in Lincoln Park, MI and resided in Allen Park, MI for many years. He taught in Lincoln Park for 32 years and served as an Immigration Customs Enforcement Agent for 30 years. A patriotic man, he accelerated his High School years and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He earned his BS and MA degrees from Michigan State University.
Burt is survived by his wife, Winifred, children: William Burton and his wife Cecilia of Howell, MI; Thomas Burton and his fiancée Rebecca Nahat of St. Petersburg, FL; Diane Burton-Moroney and her husband Michael Moroney of Marietta, GA, James Burton and his wife Janet of Pearisburg, VA; and Robert Burton and his partner Demos Pantelides of San Francisco, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael Burton, John Burton, Jessica O'Kelley and Jamie Moroney.
The family asks that donations be made to the Sun City Center Hospice House, 3723 Upper Creek Dr., Sun City Center, FL 33573 in lieu of flowers. A private memorial service is planned for November.
