Franklin "Gene" Perez passed away after a long courageous fight against cancer.
Gene was born and raised in Tampa. He lived his entire life in the Tampa Bay area but never missed an opportunity to travel to so many exciting destinations throughout the world.
Gene's life was one of dedication and love to his family and friends. Working hard and giving back was his mantra. He loved Rotary and was a former member of The New Tampa Rotary Club and present member of the Ybor City Rotary Club. Over the years he lent his many talents to several organizations helping those less fortunate. He brought with him fresh ideas and challenged his colleges to help lift the living conditions of others.
He was an Army veteran and served his nation in Vietnam along with his comrades from the 231st Army Transport. Gene graduated from the University of South Florida and earned an MBA from The University of Phoenix. He worked for GTE (Verizon) for over thirty years. He was an avid boater, motorcyclist and traveler. He was already to go on vacation, to any destination.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, son Joel, daughter Gina Miles, son Scott Maragioglio. Also, his sister and brother Kiki Crouse and Mark Perez. Gene had four beautiful grandchildren and several nieces and nephews which he all loved dearly.
Gene was a southern gentleman, strong, compassionate and loving. He would have wanted all who knew and loved him to live life to the fullest and please donate to cure this terrible disease.
