IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerard Andrew
Leonard
November 10, 1927 – August 11, 2024
Gerard Andrew Leonard (November 10, 1927-August 11, 2024). Proud Korean War US Army Veteran. Born in Queens, NY, the 4th of 6 children to Irish immigrant parents from Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland.
Jeanne Maas Leonard was the love of his life. (1932-2017). Jeanne & Jerry married and enjoyed life in Bayside, NY and East Islip, NY. Moving, after retirement to Edgewater, FL where they spent 20 years traveling and making many memories. In 2015, they moved across the state to Tampa, to live with their daughter Marguerite, son-in-law Michael and granddaughter Emily.
Jerry was a creative and handy guy. He began his career in the aerospace industry. In the mid 1960's he moved into the restaurant business; managing a seafood restaurant on Long Island for almost 20 years. Cool under pressure and beloved by all, he was nicknamed Dew Drops. It was a nickname he answered to for the rest of his life! He tackled many projects at his home and the homes of his kids, well into his 90's. His most recent project was constructing the buildings for his son-in-law's model railroad set. His mind was always creating!
He is survived by his children Marguerite (Michael) and Jerry (Lauren). He was the proud Grampy to Emily (23) Matthew (16) and Andrew (13). His grand-babies just lit up his world!
He is also survived by his sweet sister Ann and sister-in-law Catherine. There are numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and family friends that just adored him.
