Gerard F. Martel, Jr., 61, of Tampa passed away September 28, 2013. "Gerry was an avid gardener and cultivated his friendships the same way he tended his beloved flowers and plants- with great care and devotion. He truly believed that flowers are God's paints and he brushed with deliberately broad strokes and earnest exuberance on the canvas that was his life". He is survived by his parents, Gerard, Sr. and Marion Martel; brother, Arthur Martel of Vermont; sisters, Theresa Benson of New Hampshire, Donna Dupois of Vermont and Rebecca Contara of Vermont; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cats. A private service will take place.
