Mrs.Gladys LoreneKoonce, 99, born June 18, 1906 in Rochester, Texas passed away September 8, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Koonce; She is survived by her son, Don T. Winans; daughter, Holly Asher; granddaughters, Lisa Pearce and husband Chris, and Vanessa Winans; and a great granddaughter, Christiana Musgrove. Mrs. Koonce was an elementary school teacher for almost forty years in McAllen, Pharr and Mission, Texas. She moved to Tampa in 1970 and taught English and Spanish at Florida College and Florida College Academy. She was a great encourager and helper of many young and old, even in her last years when groups of students from Florida College gathered around her and sang beautiful hymns for her great enjoyment. She will be greatly missed by friends around the country who continued to call her as long as she lived. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 10th at North Boulevard Church of Christ where she was a faithful member, officiated by Ken Weliever minister. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Contributions may be made in her memory to Florida College.
