Dr. Harold Mahabir "Doc", 74, of Land O Lakes FL passed away February 8, 2015. Dr. Mahabir received his PhD in Education at Boston University. He taught at Rhode Island University, Miami-Dade College, Nova Southeastern University in Ft Lauderdale, Hillsborough High School, Riverside Community College and other several institutions in California. He authored several books in poetry and short stories and he was an amazing artist and oil painter. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Mahabir of Land O Lakes; sons, Sean Mahabir (Johara) of Land O Lakes, FL and Rishi Mahabir (Gita) of Michigan; brothers, Cano Mahabir, Val Mahabir and Bernard Mahabir; and two grandchildren, Kiana and Navin. Doc was a great loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and he loved the Lord with all his heart. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM Thursday, Feb 12th at the chapel of MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 N. Florida Ave, Tampa. Pastor Greg Murphy of Idlewild Baptist Church will officiate.
