It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Jacob (Babu) Kulangara, 85. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jacob was born India and was the second eldest of ten children and grew up with a deep sense of family, faith, and service that would guide him throughout his life.

He began his career in Kerala as a Health Inspector before marrying the love of his life, Ammini Mukalel, in 1967. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with three children: Jaya (spouse Alex), Jais (spouse Maria), and Jemy (spouse Terry). They were also blessed with eight cherished grandchildren: Sean, Serena, Sonia, Christine, Sarah, Rachel, Jude, and Jacob.

In 1974, his wife Ammini, a nurse, immigrated to the United States to begin a new chapter for their family. A year later, Babu and their children joined her in Chicago, Illinois, where they lived for seven years before moving to Tampa, Florida in 1982. They proudly called Tampa their home for the next 44 years.

Babu was a true entrepreneur with an incredible work ethic. He worked as a respected and successful real estate agent and tax preparer. He also owned a plant nursery that reflected his lifelong love of horticulture in which he generously donated proceeds to support various charities. He found great joy in cultivating plants and trees, a passion that mirrored the care and patience he showed to everyone around him.

His greatest legacy, however, was his generous heart. Babu dedicated his life to serving others. He was the first president of the Knanaya Catholic of Central Florida and helped establish numerous charitable initiatives, including the St. Vincent de Paul ministry at the Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic Church. Whether offering financial assistance, guidance, encouragement, or simply his time, he was always there for anyone in need.

Babu touched countless lives through his kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith. He believed that the greatest measure of success was not what one achieved, but how many lives one uplifted. His warmth, generosity, and selfless spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy of service and love will continue to inspire generations to come.
