James Earl Smith was a simple man, but he had a heart as big as Texas. His laugh was contagious. James enjoyed the outdoors, fishing was his favorite thing to do, he always had a smile on that face every time he knew he was gonna go fishing. He loved the Florida Gators and he got a kick out of Garden Gnomes, so much so, that he started collecting them. He loved his 4-legged babies, that's what they were to him, his babies. But his truest love of all, was his wife and best friend Misty Smith. The love he had for her was so strong, you could feel it. They were always together, laughing and goofing off, a match literally made in Heaven, whether it was fishing, visiting the Mermaids at Weeki-Wachie, going to dinner, or just hanging out in their OOL, because there was no P in their pool, James dubbed it the "OOL" - that was one of his many jokes. He could make anyone crack a smile or have a nice chuckle with his funny jokes, and that laugh of his made it even more funny. He was a humble man, yet he was so courageous. He fought so hard to live, but God needed him more than we did. Although we are hurting so much, because we miss him, we know that he is better now. No longer having to take medication all the time. No more pain and now his memory is with us forever. And those memories of his unconditional Love for his wife, and his family, will get us through.



Until we meet again, Drink a Beer. Catch a fish. And keep on smiling down on us. We love you, forever and always. Go Gators!



Services for James Earl Smith will be Wednesday, Jan. 24th at 2 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513 following the burial we will go to Eden Baptist Church 22308 Lake Lindsey Rd, Brooksville, FL 34601 for a Celebration of His Life
