James M
Kolb
October 23, 1973 – May 7, 2026
James M. “Jimmy” Kolb was born on October 23, 1973, in Bethpage, New York, and from the very beginning he brought light, laughter, and sweetness to everyone around him. On May 7, 2026, that light passed peacefully in Tampa, Florida, but the love he shared remains forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jimmy spent most of his life in Massapequa, NY, where he discovered two passions that shaped his days: bowling and music. He bowled with enthusiasm, loved watching professional bowling, and would follow the players and matches with pure excitement. Music was his comfort and his joy — especially the timeless songs of Billy Joel, which he listened to and danced along with, always wearing a smile.
In 2012, Jimmy moved with his mom to Wesley Chapel, Florida, where he continued to thrive in the warmth of family, friends, and familiar routines that brought him happiness and security. He especially enjoyed visiting theme parks and going on cruises, experiences that filled him with wonder and delight.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, James and Joan Kolb, and by his grandparents, Peter and Catherine Froehlich and Jacob and Rita Kolb.
Jimmy leaves behind his devoted sister, Joann Scherff, her husband, John, and his close friend JoAnn Steen, who were his greatest champions and companions. Their love and dedication gave Jimmy a life filled with dignity, joy, and unwavering support. Jimmy also leaves behind his cherished HCDC family, who enriched his days with care, friendship, and community.
In his passing, Jimmy continued his lifelong spirit of generosity by becoming a cornea and tissue donor, offering the gift of sight and healing to others — a final act of kindness that reflects the heart he carried throughout his life.
Those who knew Jimmy will remember his gentle heart, his pure delight in life’s simple pleasures, his big smile, his hearty laugh, and the way he made the world softer and kinder just by being in it.
