Jessimae was born May 18, 1939 on John R Street in Detroit, Michigan, to Donald and Wintress Stewart. They later moved to the suburbs of Farmington, Michigan where she spent the beginnings of a joyful childhood near cousins, aunts and uncles. Her father affectionally often referred to her as "Lil Bit" and as a child she was a member of the Rainbow Girls. When she was 11 or 12 years old, the Stewarts followed relatives to live in the sunny, warm climate of Tampa, FL, where Jessie has resided ever since.
She graduated in 1957 from Hillsborough H.S. and later married first husband Fred Urbuteit with whom she raised their three children, Bryan, Kenny and Susan. In 1970 they built their home on Lake Island Ford just North of Tampa in Odessa, Fl next door to Jessie's cousin Dorothy (Dot) and her husband Bob Delisle.
In addition to being a loving and supportive mother, Jessimae led a career with the Hillsborough County Clerk of the Circuit Court as Manager for the Department of Appeals.
Jessimae married her current husband and the love of her life, "Captain" Fred Johnson in 2002. Cap't Fred and Jessie found love and support in the second half of their lives together. Both socially active members of many local non-profit organizations, Fred and Jessie enjoyed participating in many of the group functions and gatherings. She often enjoyed volunteering her time for local causes. Groups she belonged to include The Daughter's of the Nile, the Tampa Women's Club and the Jesters.
Jessimae's passions included traveling, dancing and going to the beach. Many heartfelt memories were ritually made annually at Indian Rocks Beach and Bellair Beach with her sister Naomi, cousins Dot and Gladys, and friend and cousin by marriage Arlene.
Wednesday night jams became another faithful ritual lived out in Jessie and Cap't Fred's garage where friends and family came together to learn and play their favorite tunes, sing off-key and dance the night away.
Jessimae is survived by her beloved husband Fred Johnson, her loving children, Bryan Urbuteit and his wife Kimberly, Kenneth Urbuteit and his wife Reidun and Susan Urbuteit; her cherished grandchildren Jacqueline and husband Casey McCray, Kacee and husband Daniel Fagan and Nora Urbuteit; her great grandchildren Kemper and Brooks McCray, Fallon and Finley Fagan; several loving nieces and nephews and her dear brother David Stewart.
