Jill Holley (Levy) died at St Joseph's Hospital North on February 13, 2013. She is survived by her mother, Marian Palter, her brothers, Philip and Jon Palter, her sons, Steven and David Levy, her grandchildren, Shaigh Levy and Brett Levy, and her husband, Bill Holley. A ceremony to celebrate her life will occur at 1:00PM on February 24th at Cypress Point Park, which is at the west end of Cypress Street, on Tampa Bay, with Rev Alan Vukas of Suncoast Center for Spiritual Living presiding.
Jill was an avid traveler. She was a charter member of Uncommon Travelers, a local group whose members love to travel and to share memories of their experiences. She had been just about everywhere. She spent time in Russia, in China, in India, in Japan, in Laos, in many of the Pacific islands, in many of the countries in Europe, in many of the Central and South American countries, and in Antarctica, before she met Bill. Together they went to Las Vegas, to Hawaii, to Panama, to Nova Scotia, and on several cruises. She was a wonderful traveling companion.
She loved to dance. She and Bill were members of two local square dance and round dance clubs. They continued to take dance lessons until Jill could no longer dance because of her Parkinson's Disease.
She was a volunteer at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center long before it became the Straz Center. She liked helping people, and she enjoyed the programs featured at the center.
She trained in dental hygiene, but chose to groom dogs, and owned a dog grooming shop for many years. Animals loved her, and so did their owners.
She was a good person. She was never did a deliberately unkind thing. She had a good life, she lived it on her own terms, and she left it quickly and easily.
In lieu of flowers, please give to an animal rescue organization.
