Juanita Ramona
Yanes
d. Aug 16, 2014
Mrs. Juanita Ramona Yanes, 88, our beloved mother, passed away peacefully at her Tampa home on August 16, 2014 surrounded by her immediate family, her consuegra and "Ol' Buddy" Helen Gaudet, and by her dear friend and former colleague Mrs. Olga Barnes. She was the daughter of James Aloysius Connor and Juana Isabel Guerrero and is survived by her husband, Felipe J. Yanes, her four children Felipe (Pam), Laura (Scott), Diana and Ramon, her two grandchildren Joseph and Emily, and the animals our family rescued and adopted: Ashby, Chico, Clancy, and Little Dude. A native of Philadelphia and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, she met our father in 1939 during a summer visit to her family in Cienfuegos, Cuba. Over the next 75 years, their friendship, love, respect and devotion to each other was a shining example of the ideal marriage. She taught English at the Universidad Central and Hermanas Cuestas School in Santa Clara. After fleeing from communism in Cuba in 1961, the family settled in Tampa in 1962 where she taught Spanish at Chamberlain High School until her retirement in 1992. Our family would like to thank Susan Jenkins for her nursing assistance and friendship. A Mass followed by a reception is planned at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 12708 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, on September 20, 2014 starting at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Tampa Judeo-Christian Health Clinic, Hillsborough County LifePath Hospice or to any animal charity. She will be forever missed."ENTRUSTEDINTOOURCARE"
