Kathy Benita Johnson, 69, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. At the time of her death, she was a nursing home resident living in St. Petersburg, FL. Prior to that, she was a long-time resident of Tampa, FL, where she lived for over forty years. Kathy was born May 19, 1952 in Toney, AL to Hubert and Ruth Whitt. Upon graduating high school, Kathy joined and served in the United States Air Force. It is here she met her future husband Johnny Johnson and the two were married December 15th, 1973 in Nevada. Kathy is survived by a son, Greg Johnson (Lisa) of Plant City, FL and a daughter, Amy Gallagher (Richard) of Brandon, FL and by five grandsons; Tyler Johnson, Corey Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Jake Gallagher and Conor Gallagher and two granddaughters; Kendall Donaldson and Alexa Gallagher. Kathy is also survived by two sisters, Linda Adair (Rick) and Freda Harris, and one brother, Dalton Whitt (Rebecca.) Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Johnson and siblings Stan Whitt, Freddy Whitt, and Rachel Wicker. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Kathy's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
