Lilia Alexander, 90, of Tampa passed away at her home on December 4, 2015 surrounded by family. She was active in the Tampa community, a past president of the League of Women Voters. In the 1960's, she set up Head Start programs across the nation.Lilia was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Holmes Alexander, who passed away 10 years ago; he retired from the Tampa Tribune in 1993 after a distinguished journalism career, including more than three decades on the Tribune's editorial board. She is survived by her four children, Jeff, Linda, Mike and Lycia; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 12th, at 9 a.m. at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 17512 Lakeshore Rd, Lutz.
