LTC Robert Shields Davidson Jr, U.S. Army, died June 2, 2012 at his home in Land O Lakes, Florida.He was born April 25, 1970 in Middletown, PA, the son of Robert and Fay Davidson. Bob graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1988.He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Bowling Green State University in 1992.Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army as an Intelligence Analyst.He then attended Officer Candidate School where he was commissioned in 1996 as a Military Intelligence Officer. Bob served one tour in Kosovo and two tours in Afghanistan.He was a graduate of the Combined Arms Staff and Services School, the Signals Intelligence Officer Course, and U.S. Joint Forces Command Joint Targeting School.His awards include the Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 OLCs), the Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal (1 Bronze Star), the Kosovo Campaign Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd award), the NATO Medal - Former Yugoslavia, the Parachutist Badge, the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge and German Parachutist Badge.
Bob was predeceased by his mother, Fay Davidson.Surviving in addition to his wife Melissa (Burton) Davidson are his son Robert Davidson, III and his father, Robert Davidson, Sr.
A private family service will take place Friday at the MacDill Air Force Base Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-9 PM at MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 N. Florida Avenue, where full military honors will be presented at approximately 8:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in memory of LTC Davidson to the Fisher House, (fisherhouse.org)
