Lucjan Shila, FKA John O'Hare Sheppard, 65 died peacefully in his sleep May 3. A Tampa native, Lucjan dedicated his life to the study of Tibetan Buddhism, Martial Arts and Traditional Chinese Medicine. He served in the US Army in the Colorado National Guard and enjoyed poetry, philosophy and music. A memorial service will be held May 15th 4:00 at Florida Community of Mindfulness 6501 N. Nebraska Avenue in Tampa. The Buddhist Community is organizing a vegetarian potluck immediately following the memorial. He is preceded in death by his parents Elyse and Hugh Sheppard and survived by his brother Hubert Franklin Sheppard and children: Soen Alexander Sheppard, Anthony Michael Burnett, Vimala Faith Shila, Kiran Arik Shila, Galen Emery Shila and grandchildren: Maxwell Tate Sheppard, Philip Alexander Sheppard and Harper Lenox Burnett.
