Obituary

Maureen Cecelia Champion was born in the Nelson family home in Tampa November 21, 1936. She attended Hillsborough High School. Maureen married a young man who was serving at MacDill Air Base, Grover Champion from Texas. Their first child was born in 1955. They would eventually have five children. Maureen was the youngest of five daughters in the Nelson family. Besides her life as a mother, she was a cashier, bank worker, Honeywell employee and Hillsborough County Sheriff employee. Along with her sister Eileen and others, they were instrumental in the founding of the Most Holy Redeemer community thrift store. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 5th, at 11:00. Maureen will be laid to rest at Tampa Garden of Memories cemetery.
