Nancy Tyler, 94, born Nancy Elizabeth Gwaltney died May 18, 2018. She was the youngest of five children, and was preceded in death by her four brothers, Malcolm, Hayward, Don, and John Lastle Gwaltney. Married to F. David Tyler for 29 years, she was widowed in 1970, and remained unmarried. The mother of two sons, Commander William Terry Tyler, USN Ret. and Richard Steven Tyler of Tampa. She is survived by her sons, their wives Buiy Prapaipun Tyler, Kathy Tyler; granddaughters, Stephanie Reed, Shanna Greenlee; great grandchildren, Christopher Britton, Amy Reed, Mayer Greenlee, and Sonnie Greenlee, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by grandson, W.T. Tyler.
She was born and raised on a Southern Illinois farm during the Great Depression. Through determination and sacrifice she began her college education at the age of 32, graduating from Southeastern Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She received her Masters degree at the University of South Florida and worked as a Supervisor of Elementary Education in Hillsborough County. She was a member of the University Church of Christ.
