Obituary

Noel Jules "Skip" Marbois, age 86, of Tampa passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace. Born in 1928 in Washington, D.C., he was preceded in death by father Antony Jean Luis Jules Barbé-Marbois born Nantes, France; mother Margret Denham Bridgham born Washington D.C.; stepmother Kay Marbois born Brooklyn, NY; half-brother Jonathan Eugene Marbois, half-sister Anne Louise Marbois, and first wife Mabel Ione Marbois.He is survived by his second wife Anita Bruce Marbois; sons Matthew (Pat) of Raleigh NC, Thomas (Shari) of Phoenix AZ, and daughter Beth of Durham NC; son-in-grace Leslie Arnold of Cookville TN; daughters-in-grace Kimberly (Brian) Mitchell of Newport RI, Tracy (Rodney) Kimpton of Anna Maria, FL, Frances Ivy Arnold of Paris France; brother Richard "Dick" Marbois of Derby, United Kingdom, half-brother Anthony "Tony " Marbois, Jr. of Columbus, GA, half-sister Kathy Marbois-Segall of Mills River, NC, fifteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1947 and served 20 years as a corpsman including tours in Korea and Vietnam where he served with the 1st Marine Division from March "65 through February "67 before retirement as a Chief Corpsman. He subsequently worked as an Industrial Medic/Nurse for Campbell Shipbuilders (San Diego, CA) before becoming a Physician's Assistant, graduating from South Carolina Academy of Physicians Assistants in 1973. After a brief private practice period, he moved to Tampa in 1978 joining the staff at the James A. Haley VA Hospital. In 1991 after separating a second time from government service at the Veterans Administration, he enjoyed his remaining years in retirement. A life-long "discerner", Noel enjoyed exploring the limits of the "cosmos" as a follower of Edgar Cayce, Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.), and Monroe Institute. His favorite saying was "You only know what you're told or what you find out for yourself." Funeral services will take place 11:00 AM Friday, September 11th at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org/donate).
