Obituary

My parents met in 1958

Mom worked at a drug store and daddy was USAF and would come in the drugstore to see this beautiful girl. They had a beautiful courtship appropriate to that era. They had a beautiful home wedding 05/02/1959. She had Norman my brother named after her father and my Dads middle name. Norman Vadis Woodham. Born 12/20/1961. I came along 11/27/1963. Story was I was named after one of dads old girlfriends, Patricia and my Maternal Grandmothers middle name Janie.

My family went to Tehran, Iran in 1969 until 1972. We vacationed at the Caspian Sea and Mama was busy with 2 kids but still enjoyed her NCO Wives and American Wives Club, Coffees, Teas, Bingo, Bowling, Pinochle, Red Cross, Cub Scouts, Brownies and other assorted meetings as the wife of an enlisted man.

Upon returning stateside she continued to raise her 2 children in a wonderful way in Alexandria, LA. Our family were best friends with the Albin family across the street. We spent so many weekends together at Iatt Lake in Louisiana. Fishing, cooking, ice cream making, playing games, going to the Sugar Cane Festivals.

We adopted a friend that Patti met at grade school and she made us a family of 5. Glenda Renee "Nay" eventually married David Albin and had a beautiful son Brandon. He made Liz great-grandma to 2 babies.

Norman married Fran and they had James, her first grandson, whom she loved dearly.

Liz was a mom to all who knew her. She helped raise her brother's Steves sons Stephen, Aaron and Chance for a time. They remember Mom like a Mom. She was known as Aunt Sissy to most in our family. Our home was open to all.

She worked at Montgomery Wards in Alexandria, LA and belonged to a Bowling league.

They had many, many friends that they would enjoy dining, dancing, cards, and games with.

When Woody retired they enjoyed being full-time RV'ers and enjoyed traveling the roads of the USA, making even more friends along the way. They enjoyed each others company and made so many crafts together. Woody made Woven Folding Chairs from macrame cord, Light Balls from clear plastic cups, and wood crafts. Liz made Beaded Jewelry, Crochet, Knit, Quilts. She made a beautiful baby quilt for most anyone she knew that was pregnant. Making each quilt from an embroidered animal that also spelled out the name of the animal. She must have made 50+ baby quilt's alone. They were very sought after by many. She also knitted a beautiful dish cloth that was so beautiful to also use as a doily for home decor. She made hundreds if not thousands over the years.

Liz and Woody ran a Christmas Tree Lot in San Antonio for over 13 years at the Hobby Lobby parking lot. She made a Christmas ornament for every child that came with their parents to buy a Christmas Tree, while Woody would trim, and flock the trees and he was bearded like a skinny Santa. There are stories of children that returned every year that they ran this Christmas Tree lot and kept her ornaments every year.

Woody passed away 10/06/2002 after a short illness from lung cancer. He died at a family reunion in TN surrounded by most of our family, which was also a beautiful experience.

Liz moved to Tampa, FL where she worked at Bed, Bath & Beyond on Gunn Highway until 2009. She enjoyed making many friends from her co-workers and they remained close throughout the years.

She then moved to Adel, GA and Cecil, GA until she returned to Tampa, FL in 2020. She attended the Hahira Methodist Church and many of the ladies had a quilting group and a knitting group she loved to go to every week. She made many beloved friends from these groups.

She lived with Patti and Lynn until her recent death.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elzie Vadis "Woody" Woodham, her parents Norman Wright Scarbrough, and Janie Scarbrough, her brother Steve Scarbrough, her adopted daughter (Daughter number 2 daddy would say)Glenda Renee Albin, her daughter-in-law Fran Woodham.

She is survived by her daughter Patti Woodham and her wife, Lynn Brocious, her son Norman Woodham and his companion Gerry Carr, her sister Mary Moody, her brother Keith Scarbrough and wife Alice, her sister-in-law Gail Browder Scarbrough, her brother Ron Scarbrough and his companion Mary.

She loved all her niece's and nephews as her own, along with their children and spouses.

She had a life well lived and will be missed by all.

Like all good books her chapter is over but her memory lives on.

Please leave any fond memories you may have of her throughout your journey with Aunt Sissy, Ms. Liz, Ma or your favorite nickname you had for her!!

(If I missed anyone please accept my apologies during this process)
