Obituary

Onyx Meyer Johnson Burk, 78, of Tampa, FL passed away on January 9, 2013 after a long battle with Pneumonia. She was born in Darby, FL and lived her entire life in Florida. She was lifelong member ot the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Her children, grandchildren, her sister Lillie and all of her nieces and nephews loved her a great deal. Her career was her family. She loved to spend time with them and was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and aunt. In January 2000 she had a heart attack and stroke. Doctors told her family then that she would not survive and so the family gathered to wait for her death. But God was not finished with her yet. She did survive and enjoyed her family for another 13 years. Throughout her life she cared for many people besides her family. She was a foster parent to several children for many years. She was also the primary caregiver to her parents until their deaths. She was a very special "second mom" to her grandchildren and loved spending time with them and spoiling them. She enjoyed big family get-to-gathers and seeing all of her relatives. She was always there for her family when they needed her and her wisdom and compassion will be greatly missed. Her family believes that she is now at rest and in a better place with her family and friends, enjoying her heavenly family. Till we meet again, Mom!
She was predeceased by her husbands Leonard T. Johnson and Haverd E. Burk (Both Tampa)
Her parents Rev. Louis G. Meyer and Katie Meyer (Zephyrhills, FL)
Her brother Retired Battalion Fire Chief James G. Meyer (Ft. Pierce, FL)
Onyx is survived by her daughters, Patricia Johnson Duval (Michael J.) of Tampa,
Debra Kay Johnson ofTampa; sons, Tim Johnson Jr. (Wendy) of Tampa and
David Johnson of Tarpon Springs; granddaughters, Alicia Michele Duval, Tammy Davis
Anna Duval, Lea Duval; one great granddaughter, Savannah, all of Tampa; sister, Lillie Eastwood of Lakes Wales, FL; sister-in-law, Betty Meyer of Ft. Pierce, FL; nieces, Teresa, Sherry, Cynthia, Kathy and Connie; nephews, Robert, Jimmy, David and Darryl; and many great nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Florida.
