Oscar "Ozzie" Forbes, 78, Tampa, died at his home, March 21, 2016.He was born in Berea, KY to Bertha and Charley Forbes, he spent his childhood in Berea before joining the United States Navy in 1956. He retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1978 after 22 years of service. Ozzie made his home in Tampa, FL where he resided with his wife, Kathy (Hartzberg) Forbes. Ozzie worked as a salesman for Swepco Oil Company for over 10 years. He loved animals, golfing and politics. Ozzie is survived by his wife, Kathy, Tampa, FL; daughters Sandra Ewing, Lexington, KY,and Yvette Windham, Marietta, GA; grandchildren Christina Peterson, Richmond, KY, Roger Windham and Bailey Windham, Marietta, GA; three great-grandchildren; sisters Edna Lainhart, Berea, KY; Virginia Catherine Forbes, Lee Summit, MO; brother James (Donna) Forbes, Berea, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ozzie was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Charley Forbes, and brothers Raymond Forbes, Burley Forbes, and William Forbes. Family will receive visitors Thursday, March 24th at MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 N. Florida, Avenue, Tampa, FL 33612 from 7:00 PM -9:00 PM. Interment will be held Friday, March 25th at the VA Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Ozzie will be missed by his family and friends.
