Obituary

Patricia ("Pat") Hamner Cox went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Tierra Pines Center in Largo, FL after an extended illness.She was 74 years old.A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 1:00pm on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Sunset Memory Gardens in Thonotosassa, FL.
Pat was born on December 3, 1942 in Northport, Alabama to Goldman and Easter Hamner.She graduated in 1960 from Hillsborough High School, where she enjoyed playing the saxophone with the marching band.After High School she pursued a career in the banking industry where she worked for over 20 years, primarily with Peoples Bank. She retired from Peoples Bank in 1985 as the Vice President. Then she pursued a career in Business Administration where she worked for over 20 years at the University of South Florida. She retired from USF in 2005. She enjoyed meeting people and made many lasting friendships over the years thru work and church. Pat was an active and dedicated member of New Life Church.She sang with the Rainbow Singers and was so proud to be a child of God and raised and taught her children about Christ.She was passionate about our Lord and Savior. Pat's children remember her as a kindhearted, gentle, and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams and, most importantly, to follow Christ!She was a fabulous cook and was a generous and witty individual who loved her family.Pat was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents Goldman & Easter Hamner, her brother Horace Hamner, sister in law Sarah Hamner, brother in law James Barry Anderson and nephew James Barry Anderson II.Pat is survived by her 3 children Wendy Cox, Nicole Albers (J.R.) & Gene Cox II (Patty); 4 grandchildren:Garrett Cox, Cody Cox, Josh Weatherford & Justin Weatherford; 4 siblings:Mitzi Anderson, Doug Hamner, Jack Hamner (Millie) & Debbie Schmidt (Scott) and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.

The family would like to thank Tierra Pines Center in Largo, FL for their care and dedication.
