Pedro Benitez is survived by his wife of 54 years, 11 children (once his children were married, their spouses became his children as well), 13 grandchildren (looking at you Jessica, Chellbelle, and Frank) and three great grandchildren (Nicolas, Isabella, and Elijah), one brother, five sisters and their respective families.
Pedro was a mighty man of God, dedicated to his family. He believed that education was the key to success, and that laughter and food was the best remedy for almost any situation.
As a youth he learned the value of hard work and physical fitness was his passion which manifested in his achieving "golden glove" status as a boxer. These traits carried over as he became a young man raising a family. It was around this time he came to know and accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was diligent in the upbringing of his family, raising his children in the admonition of the Lord and imparting much wisdom gleaned from his Bible studies. He delighted in fishing, and became a fisher of men as well, reaching souls for Christ. He earned a degree in advanced Bible studies and continued teaching the Bible at his local church. As part of his studies he read the Bible, cover to cover, 17 times! He dedicated each reading to his children and grandchildren and always encouraged them, and everyone, to read the word of God. In his senior years he continued to bring joy, laughter, wisdom and guidance to all he could reach, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
He will be sincerely missed, and the world is a dimmer place without his light to brighten it. The family would like to leave you with a few of our favorite "dad quotes":
