Peggy Anne Whitehead, 85, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to many, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024. Peggy was born April 9, 1938 in Haines City, Florida and moved to Tampa with her mother and siblings while in her early teens.

She married I. L. (Lanny) Whitehead on September 3, 1955 and they raised three children together. He preceded her in death in 1990. Peggy is also preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Owens and father Rufus Rudolph Owens; siblings Hetty Ruth Powell, Myra Bullara, JR (John Rudolph) Owens, Joyce Engles, David Owens, and James (Bud) Owens.

Survivors include her children Donald Whitehead (Kim), Kenneth Whitehead, and Carol Mollica (Edward), brother Tommy Owens, and sister Sandra Parysek. She leaves behind five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Peggy loved spending time outdoors and with her large extended family. She loved traveling and always said she could not believe a little girl who grew up in the woods of Haines City had seen so many wonderful places in the world. She and her wonderful sense of humor, which she kept all the way to the end, will be deeply missed.
