Penny Marie (Sweet) Ortiz, 49, of Lutz, Florida passed away March 25, 2008 at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 3, 1958 in South Glens Falls, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Sweet. She married Fernando Ortiz on January 27, 1989. Penny was a devoted wife and mother to her family. She was a loyal employee of Pizza Hut and Pizza Shack. Penny loved to go to the beach and watch the Florida sunsets. Beside her parents she was predeceased by her mother in law, Rosa Ortiz and her father in law, Bill Perez Ortiz. Penny is survived by her husband of 19 years, Fernando Ortiz; her children, David Frey and Casi Ortiz of Lutz, Florida. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald (Louise) Sweet of Chestertown, N.Y.; her sisters, Susan (Roger) Gilbert of Lake George, N.Y., Ellen (Stephen) Kelly of Queensbury, N.Y. and Beth (Ned) Roach of Queensbury, N.Y.; brother in laws, William Ortiz and Ralph (Nancy) Ortiz of Tampa, Florida; step mother in law, Aida Ortiz of Clermont, Florida; Penny's special friend, Gina Maldanado and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will take place 12:30 PM Friday, March 28th at Florida National Cemetery.  Penny's family will receive friends Thursday March 27 from 5 - 8 PM at MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 N. Florida Ave. Tampa.
