Robert A. Kates, Sr., 68, of Tampa, died Thursday, April 22, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Edel; daughter, Karen and sons, Robert and David; a son-in-law, Al; daughter-in-law, Cynthia; six grandchildren; sister Mary Manis and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5-6:30 pm, memorial service at 6:30pm, Monday, April 26, at MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 N. Florida Ave., Tampa. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to American Diabetes Association Research Foundation, Attn: Individual Giving Department, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
