Robert Lluis, 75, of Tampa, passed away August 13, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sylvia F. (Coto) Lluis; four children: Robert J. Lluis, Audrey E. Leverett, Matthew W. Lluis, Jeffrey B. Lluis, one grandchild, Kylie M. Leverett, and one sister Kathryn L. Jerman (Gary).

He was predeceased by his parents, Victor H. Lluis, Sr. and Carmen F. Lluis; and his brother Victor H. Lluis, Jr.

An honors graduate of Jefferson High School Class of 1962, he was voted as Most Intellectual. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on October 27, 1964 and was stationed in Germany as a missiles expert. He served four years and was discharged with honors on February 1, 1967.

He went on to study at the University of South Florida and graduated with a BA in Natural Sciences (Mathematics) in 1969.

He began his first career at GTE Data Services in data processing in 1970. In August 1971 he was admitted to the University of South Florida Pre-Med's inaugural class and after completing that curriculum, he was accepted to the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine and graduated with his M.D. in 1977.

After completing his residency at University of South Alabama in 1980, he and his family moved back to Tampa where he practiced Emergency Room Medicine at various local hospitals including Centro Asturiano, Town 'n Country and Memorial Hospital.

After retiring from Memorial Hospital, he enjoyed fishing, collectible cars, bonding with his granddaughter, and playing trivia with his team, the Carrollwood Kats.

He regularly met his classmates, friends and former colleagues for lunch at various haunts around Tampa.

A Visitation will be held at MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 North Florida Avenue from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 21, 2019, with a Celebration of Life immediately following. Private graveside services will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
