Robert Burrell Ranck, Sr., 84, of Tampa, Florida, beloved husband of Irene (Kandel) Ranck for 63 years, passed away peacefully in his home the morning of March 30, 2013.
Robert was born in Scranton and raised in Clarks Summit, PA.He graduated from Abington Heights High School in 1946.He then went on to attend East Stroudsburg University where he received his B.S in Education in 1950.He later earned a Masters of Christian Education from Presbyterian School of Christian Education.
He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel after honorable service for 23 years in 1974.
In addition to his wife, Irene, Robert is survived his daughter, Ellen Hoel, and her husband Ronald of Tampa, son, Robert Jr., and wife Catherine of Tigard, Oregon and son, Matthew, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; grandchildren, Matthew Hoel, Christina Lyle, Eileen Halme, Joel Ranck, Rebecca Collins, Dennis Ranck, Nicholas Bonyata & Hannah Ranck; great-grandchildren, Jacob & Bethany Lyle, Jane & Jocelyn Halme, Samuel Bonyata & Violet Collins.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of Life Path Hospice and Visiting Angels for their care of Robert.The dedication of both agencies during these past weeks has been a blessing to the entire family.
A memorial service will be held honoring Robert on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 6:30 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church, 14920 Hutchinson Road, Tampa, FL 33625.Interment will be at Clarks Green Cemetery in Clarks Summit, PA at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in his honor be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, Inc. 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047
