Rohl M. Spoons, 58, of Tampa passed away January 22, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rohl was born May 26, 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Margaret and Roll Spoons, one of six children. He spent his childhood in Indy and moved to Brandon at the age of 14 where he attended Brandon High School. Rohl joined the U.S. Navy on his 18th birthday and served his country proudly from 1972 to 1975. He helped transport the VietNam refugees back to America. He enjoyed music, playing guitar and being on the water fishing. Rohl was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Cogswell (Robert), and Roll Spoons; sister, Cathy Whitson; brother, Wayne (Tony) Hoffman. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Terri; his boxer, Penny, who was his companion and friend; son, David Whittle; daughter, Amanda Alfaro; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; sisters, Peggy Herald (Mike), Robin Spoons (Frank); brother, Rodney Hoffman (Tina). Rohl will forever be loved and missed. A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, January 27th , 4:00 PM at Melech Hospice House, 11125 N. 52nd Street, Temple Terrace, Florida 33617. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
