Ruth Shirley McDougall Cadow, 87, of Tampa, passed away June 27, 2014. Ruth was born in Elizabeth, N.J. on December 29, 1926 and grew up in Rainbow Lakes, N.J. She worked on Wall Street for Phelps Dodge. After moving to Tampa, she worked at the School of Music at the University of South Florida for 36 years. Ruth especially enjoyed traveling and visiting lighthouses throughout the United States and Europe. But the focus of her life was always her family. She is survived by her children, Dr. Barbara Cadow (Dr. Paul Lane) of Los Angeles, Gail C. Schomers (Michael) of Tampa and Edward O. Cadow (Sherry) of Los Angeles. Her grandchildren are Briana and Amanda Lane, Sarah Pierce (Scott), Lauren Schomers, and Edward and Natalie Cadow. Her daughter, Diane Ruth Cadow, and her ex-husband, Edward Percival Cadow, predeceased her. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm July 1 at Hope Church, 5107 W. Lutz Lake Fern Road, Lutz 33558. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the USF Foundation for the Diane and Ruth Cadow Scholarship Fund.
